In this class, students will create a leather bound journal using a simple stitching technique. Students will choose from a variety of leather choices and use bookbinding tools to create a raw edge, hand bound book with 90 blank pages. Together we will layout and punch holes, fold and punch paper, stitch our book folios together and add a brass button stud closure. Students will leave the class with a unique, finished book perfect for sketching or journaling.
No experience required. Appropriate for ages 14 and up. Manual dexterity for punching, folding, and sewing is needed.
Anna Warren is a co-founder of Tactile Craftworks, a Milwaukee leather crafting studio. She has over 20 years of experience crafting for Tactile and for theater prop shops such as Milwaukee Rep and Santa Fe Opera.
